WATERLAND

New York: Poseidon Press, 1983. A fine copy in a fine dustwrapper. The author's fourth, and best book, which was nominated for the Booker Prize. He later won the prize for Last Orders. This is a book about beer, eels, the French Revolution, the end of the world, windmills, will-o'-the-wisps, murder, love, incest, education, curiosity, storytelling and--supremely--the malign and merciful element of water. Cool.
