This is a vintage publicity photograph for Alfred Hitchcock's 1948 film Rope, starring James Stewart and John Dall, based on Patrick Hamilton's 1929 play, detailing the true story of a murder committed by Nathan Leopold and Richard Loeb in 1924 New York. This was Hitchcock's first Technicolor feature and one of his most experimental films, now considered a cult classic. Dashiell Hammett This is a Typed Letter Signed by Dashiell Hammett, dated July 21st, 1944 while Hammett served in the US Army during WWII. Tom Walsh This is a typed and signed letter by Thomas Walsh corresponding to a fan about his first book Nightmare in Manhattan. The novel was the winner of the Edgar Award for Best First Novel of 1950. A New York City crime novel about the kidnapping of a six-year-old boy and the race to rescue him before it is too late. In the letter, Walsh writes about this novel, "Later on they made it into a movie, but bitched it all up. The local, of course, was Grand Central Station, but they switched that to Union Station out in Chicago, and changed my little boy victim to a blind girl." Walsh also expresses that he has been unwell and has not felt like himself. This letter is a rare look into the mind of an author regarding the film adaptation of his novel and his personal life.
