With large fold-out map which has had a tear neatly repaired. 8vo - 371; 372 pp. Volume 1 with 22 engraved illustrations plus two maps, one fold-out and one full page. Volume 2 with twelve engraved illustrations, the frontispiece being in color. A very clean, bright and solid set of this important exploration of the Nile region. In 1861 Mr. Baker set off on an expedition to locate the source of the Nile. His efforts were rewarded when in 1864 he discovered the source, a lake which he named "Albert N'Yanza", after the Queen's Consort. Upon returning to England he was knighted and received the Victoria Gold Medal of the Geographical Society. Near Fine.
