Two volumes, complete. Original green cloth, lettered and decorated in gilt to the front panel and spine. With large fold-out map which has had a tear neatly repaired. 8vo - 371; 372 pp. Volume 1 with 22 engraved illustrations plus two maps, one fold-out and one full page. Volume 2 with twelve engraved illustrations, the frontispiece being in color. A very clean, bright and solid set of this important exploration of the Nile region. In 1861 Mr. Baker set off on an expedition to locate the source of the Nile. His efforts were rewarded when in 1864 he discovered the source, a lake which he named "Albert N'Yanza", after the Queen's Consort. Upon returning to England he was knighted and received the Victoria Gold Medal of the Geographical Society. Near Fine.

LARSSON, STIEG; LAGERCRANTZ, DAVID A pristine six volume set, complete, of the Millennium Trilogy by Stieg Larsson, plus three subsequent novels by David Lagercrantz. All six volumes have number rows to the copyright page with "1" present as the lowest numeral. The first three books constitute the original books by Larsson. He dropped three manuscripts off at the publishers and then, very soon thereafter, died of a heart attack. The international acclaim was quick and intense. The three subsequent novels by David Lagercrantz continue the Lisbeth Salander story. The three last novels present here are all from a limited edition of 500 copies, 1000 copies, and finally another of 500 copies. The lower edition number have sprayed black edges. All three volumes from these limited edition novels are numbered "2". All three volumes are signed by David Lagercrantz. The Millenium Trilogy are all translated by Reg Keeland. Gaudier-Brzeska, A Memoir By Ezra Pound
POUND, EZRA Original pale green cloth with text in gilt, exquisitly presented with a deeply textured blind-stamp cartouche on the front panel after a design by the artist. One of a probable first edition of only 450 copies. Quarto, 168pp. "Including the published writings of the sculpture, and a selection from his letters with thirty eight illustrations, consisting of photographs of his sculpture, and four portraits by Walter Benington, and numerous reproductions of drawings." A very nice copy of the first edition, first issue. Henri Gaudier-Brzeska was, along with Ezra Pound and Wyndham Lewis, a leading figure of the Vorticist movement. His professional career lasted only 4 years before he was killed in the First World War. He was 23 years old when he died. The book contains 38 photographic plates of the author, his sculptures and his drawings. There is scattered foxing throughout the text but not impacting any of the plates. A very nice copy of a very important early work of Ezra Pound. Very good.- $800

The spine is recent and has new endpapers. xviii, 284 pp. With 29 sepia aquatint engravings, elaborate frontispiece, plus two full page portraits and a full page map. There are 18 in-text woodcuts. On the preliminary pages there is a mis-pagination with xii being listed twice. This copy has a small discreet news clipping pasted at the foot of page 74 concerning the Boughton family. At the foot of next page is a brief ink notation on the same subject. Other than that the pages are clean, bright and without blemish. Ireland created a number of "Picturesque Views" throughout his career. They proved very successful and the reason is obvious with this volume. The engravings are very detailed and offer a real portal to the past as well as exposing his love for all things Shakespeare. Fine.- $550

A remarkable first effort from this 25 year old writer and a clear harbinger of the brilliant works to come. A very sharp copy. Previous owner contemporary signature and date to the front free endpaper. The name is that of Ralph Sargent and I believe this to be Ralph M. Sargent (1904-1985), author and Professor. He earned his PhD at Yale and later joined the faculty of Haverford. His papers now reside at The University of Tennessee. So there is both a Yale and Knoxville, Tennessee connection. This is a lovely copy of the book with only the slightest wear to the ends of the spine.
