Original Vintage Poster WWI Women In War Time Shells Postwoman

Original vintage World War One educational poster - 1915 Women in War-Time - featuring two illustrations with captions, the one above depicting ladies in green uniform and headscarves working at a munitions factory - Filling shells with explosives - and below showing a postal worker wearing a blue GPO General Post Office uniform walking past a red double decker bus with a conductress at the back waiting for a member of the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps (WAAC) to board - A Postwoman a Bus Conductress and a member of the W.A.A.C. This poster would have been on display and used as a teaching aid at schools for history lessons. The Women's Army Auxiliary Corps WAAC was set up in 1917 to help with administrative and auxiliary work on a voluntary basis during WWI to free men for the front line and help on the home front; the WAAC continued in France after the war before being disbanded in 1921; many then joined the new Auxiliary Territorial Service ATS (1938-1949) during World War Two. Fair condition, pinholes, tape marks, staining, small paper loss. Size: 53x43
