"Knight's work focused on narrative paintings depicting the life, culture, and history of African Americans, through still life, portraits, and urban scenes. The majority of her career produced oil portraits of friends, figure studies of dancers, and watercolor and gouache landscapes. However, her work began to shift in the 1990s incorporating lyrical depictions of animals through etchings and monoprints. Her inspiration came from spontaneous responses to her surroundings, as well as African dance, sculpture, and theater." Knight was married to the great American painter Jacob Lawrence. With a foreword by Janeanne A. Upp.

This book is an autobiographical account of his depression and paranoia, his hospitalization and the abuses he suffered. He called himself an advocate for the insane and gained the support of the medical profession and others in the work to reform the treatment of the mentally ill. In 1908 Beers founded the "Connecticut Society for Mental Hygiene." This copy signed with a warm nine line inscription from Beers on the first leaf.- $75

A Souvenir of Early Colorado Presented by Fred A. Rosenstock, Books on the Occasion of the Formal Opening of His New Book Shop at 1228 East Colfax Avenue, Denver, Colorado, October 11, 1962.
14" x 8.75". Single sheet, folded once to form a booklet. Tipped in to this booklet is a facsimile sheet on yellow paper of the Rocky Mountain New's New Year Address from 1860. With ten lines of printed text by Rosenstock describing the facsimile. The original address is known in less than six copies. Rosenstock specialized in western history. He also had an interest in western art and collected the paintings and sculptures of Charles Marion Russell which he displayed in his bookstore. Rosenstock became recognized as the leading bookseller in the field of Western Americana. This booklet was designed and printed by Lawton Kennedy of San Francisco. Kennedy has signed the rear cover below the colophon.- $75
