Detailed Publishers' Advertisement with note of praise and comment as to the excellence of author. A seven page Author's Preface stresses the end of the book is one purely historical, not to revive the irritating controversy or reawaken ancient resentments. Volume I, 382 pages with advertisements; Volume II, 333 pages with Authentic Documents referred to in Justification of the Text for both Volume I and II; pages 335 to 419. Near fine, sturdy condition with only slight bending at top and bottom of spines. Front and back covers blind stamped with initialed crest and edge rules. A very uncommon book.
