Octavo, about 8.75 inches tall, in blue cloth with a paper spine label. 299 pages. According to the afterword by Max Brod, this novel was not quite finished. It does, however, end on a more hopeful note than Kafka's other work. Previous owner name on each side of the front endpaper; the endpapers are moderately stained from glue offset. Inside is otherwise clean, bright and soundly bound. The covers show light extremity wear, and the gutters and spine show spotty fading, also the likely effect of glue offset. The salmon jacket is complete but for very shallow chipping at the foot of the spine and the bottom front panel. There is moderate darkening to the spine and edges of the jacket.
