This is No. 44 of 150 copies of the Special Edition, bound in black calfskin and signed by Danis Rose, with the volume of essays and notes by Seamus Deane, Hans Walter Gabler, David Greetham, and the Editors. These within the original cloth slipcase. This copy is from the library of David Greetham in Lenox. Massachusetts, but there is no evidence of ownership available.

Taghconic; or Letters and Legends about our Summer home First Edition. Very good copy with little wear, and just a couple spots of discoloration to the cloth. The lettering on the spine retains some glow. Tight and secure. "With the compliments of the Author" in pencil on the endpaper and a pencil correction of fact in the preface. A poem by the author clipped from an 1852 newspaper is loosely inserted. The Berkshires are presented with special attention given to some notable residents.- $375

Folded in front is a typed letter from the publisher, Lee Furman, expressing enthusiasm to a potential reviewer, The half-title page is signed by both authors as well as Lee Furman. A fourth signature is that of David Lloyd, who seems to have had some connection to the book. There are ten mounted early reviews on the preliminary leaves. They are from 1938 newspapers and dark shadows from them have been cast. Very slight fading to the spine lettering, the book itself with little wear. Very Good.- $675

Typed Letter, Signed
French, Daniel Chester George Leon Varney for a volume entitled "Favorite Poems of Famous People" (Vaughan Publishing Co., Chicago. 1910) wrote to luminaries in many fields requesting their favorite poems. This is Daniel Chester French's reply to him, with three choices."I have so many favorites". A fine copy of the book is included. The typed letter is dated August 27, 1909. It is on Chesterwood stationary and signed in ink.- $800
