Parrish Maxfield Size of the individual parts: 9 by 7 inches. Color print of the famed Maxfield Parrish painting originally done for John Jacob Astor's Knickerbocker Hotel in 1906. It was originally done in three panels which were mounted together. It is displayed here as a triptych of the three panels. The right-hand image is slightly darker than the other two, but it is still a clear and colorful image, and the piece is otherwise fine. Beautifully framed and matted. 0- $1,200

Original Illustrator Art: The Ass and the Grasshopper
Daily, Dan Pencil on paper. Size: 11 ½ by 14 ½ inches. Published in The Classic Treasury of Aesop's Fables, Philadelphia: Running Press Kids, 1999. Signed lower left. We bought this wonderfully executed drawing directly from the artist at a Comic-Con around 2000. It is the final preliminary to the color rendition that appears in the book. I much prefer this to the final version. In the coloring process, the image lost much of the detail and shading that make this piece so remarkable and lovable. 0- $750

Original Illustrator Art: Trolls Forest Scene
Johnstone, Janet and Anne Watercolor and bodycolor on artist's board. Size: 25 ½ by 23 inches. This amazing piece of artwork is currently reproduced as a foil image with the title "The Picnic". Many of these images were used by The Great British Card Company for use in greeting cards and stationery. A notation on the overlay for the work calls it Trolls Forest Scene, and we are using that title. We have not located this in a published book, but it is very likely that it was published in one of the many books of fairy tales illustrated by the sisters. It is exceptionally striking in the precision of its execution. 0- $5,500
