Red illustrated boards. There is wear along the upper and lower board edges. Bumps to the corners and spine ends. Boards just showing at the corner tips. Without names or bookplates. The dust jacket has chips to the corners and spine ends. Chipping and small tears along the edges. Some light wear along the front fore edge flap fold. To the mid-spine area there is a tear of about 1 1/2". Price clipped. This is the blue jacket and does nearly match the first edition although this one is a darker blue. Brown cloth, decorated in gilt and black to the front and spine. Illustrated with 12 full-page color chromolithographs from designs by Hermann Faber. All are present. A slight spine lean. There is some fraying to the spine ends and wear to the lower corners. An early owner inscription to a front blank is dated 1873. Very lovely full maroon morocco by Trautz-Bauzonnet. Spine with five raised bands, gilt lettering in two compartments. Gilt decorated turn-ins. Marbled endpapers. All page edges gilt with marbling visible under the gilt when pages are fanned. Ribbon marker bound-in. Bookplate to the front pastedown. Notes in red ink to the first blank. All pages present but for the end colophon leaf. There is a bit of wear along the spine edges. Some darkening to the spine. All the text is quite clean but for the usual toning.
