First photoplay edition of KING KONG, with its scarce very good plus original dust jacket. Published by Grosset and Dunlap, 1932. Conceived by Edgar Wallace and Merian Cooper. This was the novelization of the screenplay and is considered to be the rarest of the photoplay editions. The book was published slightly before the film was released. The book without the original jacket can be found in prices ranging from $600 to $1000 (depending on condition), yet examples of this book in an original dust jacket sells for $8000 and up. It is the rarity and collectability of the jacket which distinguishes the pricing, with the jacket having nearly 12x the value of the actual book. This is the result of the jacket being both fragile, in addition to that dust jackets at the time were intended to be discarded as they were considered as mere advertisements, so as a result relatively few are left available. The original lavishly painted King Kong jacket art is collectible in its own right, with the background mixing the New York setting with the dinosaurs of Skull Island. This book comes with the scarce very good plus original dust jacket. The book is in beautiful condition with crisp lime green cloth boards, with strong unfaded deep chocolate brown titles to front and spine. The boards have some of the common very slight toning. The book has sharp corners with one corner tip bump, and with no edgewear. The end papers depict scenes from the photoplay and are clean with no owner names, and no bookplates. The internal pages are overall clean, with an occasional smudge or light handling mark. The deep chocolate top stain applied by the publisher to the top of the page block is strong. The value of this book is in the original dust jacket. The jacket has some strong vibrant, vivid colors with but the typical fading to the spine only. This in itself is most unusual as this jacket was very prone to fading, and of the few remaining original jackets having survived, many are found with faded front and rear panels as well as faded spines. The dust jacket presents in very good condition having benefited from some restoration to the spine ends by an expert paper conservator, and has some slight softened creases. The reverse side of the jacket has the requisite text ads listing the Grosset and Dunlap publications. A handsome jacket presenting the book beautifully on the shelf. The dust jacket is protected in a new clear removeable archival cover. Extremely Scarce title in collectible condition. ADDITIONAL IMAGES AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST. ROY LICHTENSTEIN. SIGNED VINTAGE POSTCARD "CRYING GIRL". LETTER OF AUTHENTICITY FROM PSA/DNA. An Original Roy Lichtenstein signed spectacular vintage 5.75″ x 4″ postcard of his iconic art titled "Crying Girl", 1963. Includes a Certificate of Authenticity from PSA/DNA Signed in black felt tip in full signature along the lower edge in "Roy Lichtenstein" A Stunning Original Lichtenstein signature on his vintage postcard depicting one of his most iconic paintings titled "Crying Girl". The signed felt tip postcard will be accompanied by a COA/LOA and would be stunning framed. University-instructor-turned-Pop-artist Roy Lichtenstein is most well-known for his comic-book style homages to 20th century Americana. In CRYING GIRL, 1963, he employs his trademark style. A pioneer of the Pop art movement, he drew upon the content and aesthetics of 1950s comic strips for his iconic Crying Girl prints. Exploring different portrayals of women in distress, Lichtenstein created two versions of Crying Girl, a lithograph in 1963 and an enamel on steel multiple the following year. The women, both blonde and wearing red lipstick, avert their gazes as tears well up in their eyes. Although Lichtenstein often used speech bubbles in his compositions, the Crying Girls are devoid of any text, allowing viewers to come to their own conclusions as to the cause of the women's sorrows. Though celebrated today, Crying Girl was controversial when first released for its simple, cartoonish style. PROVENANCE: The postcard will come with an COA/LOA from PSA/DNA.THE GRAPES OF WRATH

FIRST STATE, First Edition, First Printing A extremely rare FIRST STATE of this title in FINE/NEAR FINE fine condition, with the scarce binding of the rare image of the golden "GUN" stamped in gold on the front boards of the book. Purported to have only 900 copies before the publisher decided to change to the plain black boards due to production costs. most all of these rare first state printings where originally sent to the colonies, principally Australia and South Africa, and as such very few survived, and most have condition issues. According to research, a decision was made, very early in the process, that to block the whole print run with such a large expanse of foil, would be financially prohibitive. ("According to the publisher's book production files the original estimate allowed for just four and a half square inches of foil-stamping [the executed design measured nearly nineteen square inches]. The decision to cease stamping a golden gun was purely economical." – Gilbert (Ian Fleming The Bibliography)). In addition, most all of these rare first state printings where originally sent to the colonies, principally Australia and South Africa, and as such very few survived, and most have condition issues. First UK Edition, First Printing: "A nightmarish prognostication of a future in which humanity has been destroyed by science. Easily Huxley's most popular (and many good judges continue to think his best) novel". Named by Modern Library as one of the 100 Greatest Novels of the twentieth century. The book is in beautiful condition with bright blue boards with some slight rubbing to the very lower spine and edge. Bright unfaded gilt titles to spine. The boards have sharp corners, with one tiny tip bump. Touch of slight toning to the boards. The binding is sound and square. Delicate faded owner name and date of 1932 to the front fly leaf, otherwise the internal pages have no writing, no bent pages, and no foxing but to some of the first and last few pages. Lovely book internally appearing as unread. Rough cut page edges as published. Please see detailed images. Lacking the very scarce dust jacket. A very handsome unrestored example of this classic fragile book. A defining moment in the genre of the dystopian novel, Brave New World considers the dangers that new technologies and mass modernization pose to the very core of humanness. Rather than depicting these developments as gateways to utopia, as writers such as H.G. Wells had done, Huxley foreshadowed how radically technology and psychological conditioning could limit individual rights ranging from sexuality and reproduction to creativity to love. A "nightmarish prognostication of a future in which humanity has been destroyed by science" (DNB). Please see our ABE store for other landmark SciFi titles.SLAUGHTERHOUSE-FIVE (SIGNED)
