Once it was completed, the need for the Argentine Air Force to replace all of its outdated combat aircraft, essentially single-engine propellers with fixed landing gear, such as the Curtiss 75 and Northrop 8A-2, became evident. The country's solid economic position favored the purchase of modern aircraft, although options were scarce. Great Britain undoubtedly stood out with the De Havilland Vampire and the Gloster Meteor. The first meetings held between parties, at the end of 1945, took place within the greatest reserve. The thing is that the talks revolved around nothing less than the transfer of the most advanced aerial weapons system of the time and that would give rise to friction between the two main allied powers, over the convenience of allowing this operation. Argentine interest was focused on the Gloster Meteor.
