Overall in very good condition, still looking fresh with light rubbing and marks to boards and spine, crease to upper board and light stain to rear board. Light rubbing and bumping to corners but still a firm and sound copy. Internally clean and fresh, with sporadic light marks and thumbing to pages, light foxing to endpapers and small label remnants of previous bookseller? to both endboards. All plates present, in excellent condition, all bar one loose plate still with tissue guard attached to it. Internally clean and crisp. 45pp. 'Thomas Moore Raworth (1938-2017) was an English-Irish poet, publisher, editor, and teacher who published over 40 books of poetry and prose during his life. His work has been translated and published in many countries. Raworth was a key figure in the British Poetry Revival'.

Merriman, Bryan The Midnight Court by Brian Merriman is newly translated from the Irish by David Marcus. Michael Biggs designed and cut the Headpiece and Vignettes. The text is handset in Poliphilus Type & Centaur Initials. The Gaelic Title in Petrie Type was lent by the Dublin University Press. Two Hundred Copies on Antique Paper are now printed and bound by hand & finished in April MCMLIII at The Dolmen Press Dublin. This is number 95. Decorative paper covers oven cloth spine with gilt lettering, a lovely copy, with slight rubbing to edges, light bumping to corners and rippling to the spine as seen in photos. Light foxing, mainly to endpapers and first & last pages and very mild to sporadic pages throughout, but overall clean and bright pages. Unpaged. 'Originally written in the Irish language by the 18th-century poet Brian Merriman (circa 1745–1805), The Midnight Court is an extended satiric poem that assesses the growing economic, political, and familial constraints of late 18th-century Catholic Ireland under British colonial rule, while subversively playing on the tradition of the aisling (or vision) poem in which a beautiful woman represents Ireland’s threatened sovereignty. While containing many insights into 18th-century social conditions, The Midnight Court is also an exuberant, even jaunty work of the comic imagination'.

Moore, George Black cloth covers with a stunning gilt design of skull and cross-bones with a lyre to upper board and all edges gilt. A little fragile with the spine missing and water mark to rear board, rubbing/scuffing to edges and corners but with upper board in very good condition, making it ideal for restoration. Internally clean with sporadic light marks to pages and marks to top corner of last 3 pages. ii, 114pp plus 2 pages of ads. 'Often regarded as first great modern Irish novelist, George Moore (1852-1933) influenced James Joyce among many others. While living in Paris he self-published his first book, The Flowers of Passion, a collection of lyric poems. The poems were derivative, and were maliciously reviewed by the critics who were offended by some of the depravities in store for moralistic readers. The book was withdrawn by Moore not long after publication'.- $257

Black cloth covers with gilt lettering to the spine and upper board. A little shaken with marks to boards, rubbing to corners, loss to the tips of the spine, bumps & dents and the spine detached but still present. Internally overall very clean, including all the plates, age toning to pages and first block of pages loose as seen in photos.
