Engraved double page map, 24" x 20 1/2", hand colored, and large title cartouche. Some foxing, occasional small staining, normal aging and browning, signature on verso; otherwise verso good with a strong impression. Seutter (1678-1757) was born in Augsburg, and served as an apprentice with Homann before establishing his own firm in Augsburg in 1710. He was considered one of the most important German cartographers, but it seems that much of his work were copies of Homann maps. He published several atlases, and globes, but his most famous work was his "Geographical Atlas or an Accurate Depiction of the Whole World" published in 1725. This map of the town of Halberstadt Germany, which is in the Saxony-Anhalt region. The map is attractive and colorful, and is decorated with a large title cartouche in the upper right corner. matthias-seuter.com. Bagrow p. 185 & 27
