Photo Album]: Vintage and Antique Doll Seller’s Inventory

Lodwick, Wanda] [ca 1980s]. 40 pp. A vintage photo album consisting of over 300 Polaroids and other images on Kodak paper, of vintage and antique dolls, representing the inventory of a rural Ohio doll seller. Images are often annotated, The majority include annotations about the doll, whether it was sold, and other pertinent information, others are cut, and some have stickers affixed on the verso or are present on the sleeve. Housed in an oblong 13.5" x 9" maroon album stamped in gilt, with some light damage to the front bottom corner, and the top brad detached from backing. Believed to be the inventory of Wanda Lodwick, containing several Polaroids labeled at rear with Lodwick's address or name penciled. Lodwick was from the Youngstown, Ohio area. Active in the doll trade beginning in the early 1970s and at least working into the '90s, Lodwick traveled Ohio and Pennsylvania, doing shows, buying and selling dolls. She also ran a shop in Ohio called Wanda's Doll House, which featured dolls by Ashton Drake, Artly Collectibles, Good Kruger, Ginny's, Llyod Middleton's, Designer Barbies, Great American Doll Co., Gretchen Wolff, Mattel, Porcelains, Vinyls, as well as music boxes, carousels, snow babies, pewter, antique to new jewelry, bears, gifts and Learning Tree Cards. An interesting peek into the inventory and workings of a vintage reseller, pounding the pavement in an era before the internet and sites like eBay, before digital cameras, iPhones and the whole lot.
